Everard Home (1756–1832)

Everard Home was a prominent surgeon and naturalist who served as surgeon to George III and was president of the Royal College of Surgeons. Beechey's portrait documents one of the leading figures in Georgian medical science. Home was also a fellow of the Royal Society, though his reputation was later damaged by accusations of plagiarism; the portrait presents him at the height of his professional authority with the quiet confidence Beechey brought to distinguished sitters.
