Miraculous Draught of Fish

Jan Rombouts I painted this Miraculous Draught of Fish around 1510 for M Leuven. The Gospel miracle of the great catch of fish was a popular subject in the Netherlands, where the fishing industry was economically vital and the miracle resonated with communities dependent on maritime trade.
