Franz Defregger's 'Versammlung von Tiroler Freiheitskämpfer' (Assembly of Tyrolean Freedom Fighters, 1886) is a historical genre subject returning to the Tyrolean uprising of 1809 — the resistance led by Andreas Hofer against Napoleonic occupation that was Defregger's most celebrated historical theme.
