Historical Context
Davide Ghirlandaio worked alongside his celebrated brother Domenico in the family workshop, the most commercially successful artistic enterprise in late fifteenth-century Florence. This Sts Nicholas of Bari and Dominic was created around 1485 and is now held at the Ashmolean Museum Egg tempera on panel was the dominant technique of the period, demanding careful layer-by-layer construction and patient craftsmanship The work is now in the collection of Ashmolean Museum.
