The Virgin Appearing to Dominican Saints, painted in 1747 for the Church of the Gesuati (Santa Maria del Rosario) in Venice, is one of Tiepolo's major altarpiece commissions for the Dominican order. The Gesuati church on the Zattere waterfront houses an important cycle of Tiepolo's religious paintings, including ceiling frescoes and altarpieces that represent some of his finest ecclesiastical work.
