Sibyl

Dosso Dossi, court painter to the Este in Ferrara known for his poetic approach to mythology, created this composition around 1524. The work reflects the artistic conventions and devotional culture of the High Renaissance period, when religious painting served both public worship and private contemplation across Europe. Now held at Hermitage Museum, it demonstrates the artist's contribution to the rich visual culture of the early sixteenth century.
