Virgin and Child with Saints Anthony Abbot, Jerome and Francis

Francesco Vecellio's Virgin and Child with Saints Anthony Abbot, Jerome and Francis, painted around 1519 and now in the Bavarian State Painting Collections, is by Titian's elder brother, who also trained in the Bellini-influenced Venetian tradition. Francesco worked in his younger brother's shadow but produced competent devotional paintings that reflect the broader Venetian workshop tradition. The work shows the characteristic warm palette and atmospheric approach of the Venetian school.
