Trittico di Navolè
Historical Context
The Triptych of Navole by Cima, at the Albino Luciani Diocesan Museum, dates from around 1489 and represents the painter's early maturity. The triptych format — three interconnected panels — served the needs of smaller churches and private chapels in the Veneto hinterland Oil on canvas, increasingly preferred over panel in the sixteenth century, offered greater flexibility for large-scale compositions The work is now in the collection of Albino Luciani Diocesan Museum.
Technical Analysis
The three panels share a unified light source and spatial arrangement that creates continuity across the triptych's divisions. Cima's early style is already characterized by the luminous precision and clear color that would define his mature work.
