Saint Margret and Saint Agnes

Bernardo Daddi painted Saints Margaret and Agnes around 1507. These two popular virgin martyr saints were frequently paired in Italian altarpiece panels. However, Daddi was actually a 14th-century Florentine painter, suggesting the dating may reflect a later copy or attribution issue Bernardo Daddi was Giotto's most gifted follower in Florence, specializing in portable devotional panels and polyptych altarpieces notable for their tender intimacy.
