Ciclo del beato Simonino da Trento
Antonio Marinoni·1492
Historical Context
Antonio Marinoni was an Italian painter active in the Bergamo area in the late fifteenth century. This cycle of the Blessed Simonino of Trent from around 1492 reflects one of the most controversial episodes of late medieval history — the alleged ritual murder of a Christian child in Trent in 1475, which led to the persecution of the Jewish community. The cult, now discredited, was popular in the Trentino and northern Italy.
Technical Analysis
