Francesco Napoletano created this work around 1495, now in the Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco. Madonna and Child images were produced in enormous quantities by Renaissance workshops, serving as essential furnishings for churches, chapels, and private households. The High Renaissance period saw significant artistic innovation across Europe, with painters developing new techniques for representing the visible world with unprecedented naturalism and spatial coherence.
