Jacometto Veneziano was a Venetian miniaturist and portrait painter active in the last decades of the fifteenth century. This portrait of an unknown woman from around 1495 exemplifies his exquisite small-scale portraits that were highly prized by Venetian collectors. His tiny, jewel-like portraits on panel or parchment were among the most refined works of their type produced in Renaissance Venice.
